IELTS:
The International English Language
Testing System
is English proficiency test that
is accepted by most government organizations, colleges and
universities for admission purposes.
The IELTS consists of 4 sections- Listening, Reading, Writing
and Speaking. The following is a brief look at the IELTS test
format:
TOEFL:
The Internet Based Test of
English as a Foreign Language (iBT) is the new generation TOEFL.
It is the 3rd generation of the TOEFL that Alfa beta is
providing. The iBT is about as cutting edge as a proficiency test
gets. With a radically new platform and futuristic test
delivery, the iBT is the most exciting thing to happen to the
world of exam testing in decades.
SAT:
The
SAT is an entry level test for prospective undergraduates. While
there are many colleges and universities in the United States
that accept foreign students on the basis of their TOEFL scores,
the better state universities and private universities require a
certain score in the SAT before they can admit any student-
domestic or international.
GRE
: The Graduate Record
Examination
GRE® is required
for admissions, scholarships or assistantships at a graduate
school. GRE scores are accepted in MS and PhD programmed in
different fields other than management. Good GRE scores are one
of the important factors of admissions at reputed American
universities. GRE scores are highly important to get
scholarships as well.
GMAT
:
GMAT is used by
many graduate schools of business and management as a criterion
to consider application for admission in graduate programs. The
GMAT tests verbal, mathematical and analytical writing skills.
It
is a four-hour computer-adaptive test. Student's performance on
previous questions determines which question will be asked next.
